Naval General Service, 3 clasps, I June 1794, 23rd June 1795, 12 Octr 1798 to G.N. Tremlett, Midshipman, present in the victory in 1781 under Admiral Kempenfeld at the Second Battle of Ushant died aged 97 having been on the List for 87 years being at that time the oldest living officer on the Naval List.
George Neate Tremlett, b. 1769, Master's Servant 1780, present aboard the 60 - Medway at the Second Battle of Ushant, December 1781. Present at the First of June aboard 'Queen', flagship of Rear Admiral Alan Gardner, and which sustained severe damage, the death of her captain (Hutt) but in the process, along with 'Orion' engaged and secured the surrender of the French ships. Northumberland and Jemmappes. Was appointed Lieutenant 1 August of that year, present aboard 'Queen' at the action 1795 resulting in the capture of the 40-gun frigates La Gloire and La Gentille, and in Lord Bridport's action with the French Fleet of Ile de Croix. Present aboard 16 gun 'Penguin' during her capture of the French privateer L'oisseau and a prize brig on which occasion Captain Pulling commended Tremlett (L.G. 29/8/1797) 'Approbation of the conduct of my First Lieutenant, Mr George Neate Tremlett.....zeal and steady exertion during the chase working the guns knee high in water for upwards of an hour and a half with a heavy sea making fair breaches constantly over us.'
Served aboard Foudroyant at the surrender in Oct 1798 of Le Hoche and other ships under Commodore Bompart, destined for the invasion of Ireland. Ret. Commander 1830, died 1865, aged 97. Neat repair at claw and a little polished but of remarkable service
