M.I.D. L.G. 1/1/1916 France ‘Regimental Sergeant Major
The following commendation is extracted from the 25th Divisional History regarding operations 4th to 8th November, 1918
‘During the whole period, the work of the DAC. under. Lieut. Col. Hope-Johnstone, with Captain Webb, Captain Tacon and Captain Flowers of No. 1. No. 2 and No. 3 Sections, had been the most arduous and severe. Long distances, continuous moves and large quantities of ammunition required at gun positions , entailed a heavy strain on personnel and horses of this most important branch of the artillery. On no occasion did they fail to keep the batteries supplied with ammunition and the work of the drivers, very often carried out under the most difficult conditions, usually at night and along heavily shelled roads, was beyond all praise.’
