L.G. 11/3/1916.

‘For conspicuous gallantry and energy in carrying despatches and ammunition on several occasions under heavy fire.’

James McHaffie was born in Neilston, Renfrewshire, 1890, and attested for the Royal Scots Fusiliers at Pollokshaws, Glasgow. He served with the 7th Battalion  on the Western Front from 10 July 1915. He was killed in action during the battle of the Somme on 13 October 1916,  in a forward area in the Le Sars sector.
