M.I.D. L.G.  12/12/1919 Services in Russia 1918-19

Served aboard H.M.S. Caradoc (light cruiser) which served at various times during operations in Russia, Nov. 1918 - 1920 and present at the capture of 2 Bolshevik destroyers.

Edda Charles Osmonde, from Preston, Dorset, entered the Navy as Boy.2 Cl. 1899, previous trade gardner's boy. Served in the cruiser H.M.S. Glasgow 1912-1916 and so present at the battles of Coronel and the Falkland Islands in 1914. At the former she was able with her speed to escape the detruction wrought on Craddock's squadron despite being hit 5 times. She took her revenge at the latter when outpacing other British cruisers engaged the Leipzig for half an hour reducing her until the other cruisers came up and between then sunk her. later, along with 'Kent' located the 'Dresden' and engaging her forced her to scuttle
