B. Waterford in 1842, joined Leicestershire Regt. in 1857, served in Canada and ‘appointed to a special duty on the Canadian Frontier, at the termination of which he was congratulated on his zeal and activity.’. Served in Jamaica in 1865 at the supression of the rebellion. Returned to Canada following this and served as drill instructor to the officers of the nova Scotia Regiment. Served in India 1876 where promoted to Sergeant-Major. Returning to England in 1879 he joined the Regimental District at Leicester and appointed instructor to the Loughborough Volunteer Company, which post he held for 16 years. Among his presentations were a gold watch from the Loughborough volunteers and a sword on his retirement.’
