‘For marked gallantry and dashing leadership near Jenlain, on 3rd and 4th November, 1918. He led his company into a gap againstdetermined opposition, capturing prisoners and securing the safety of his battalion. He then reorganised his company and led them in attack, securing his objective and beyond, capturing prisoners, machine guns, and a field gun, and mopping up Wargnies-le-Grand.

James Harold Bermingham Young, B. Darlington, Co. Durham 1893, enl. 20th (Public Schools Btn.) R. Fus. November, 1914 and served in France from November, 1915. Discharged to commission, Cheshire Regt. 28 February, 1917 . 1939 Register states Chartered Accountant, Canterbury. Died 1969.
Malta Blockade Runner’s’ D.S.M. awarded to Able Seaman , Merchant Navy, who after his ship was torpedoed in November 1941, endured nine days in an open boat prior to being interned by the Vichy French
Sierra Leone 1898-99 D.S.O. group of six awarded to Lieutenant-Colonel, Devonshire Regiment, attached West African Regiment, who was severely wounded with the Devons at the Battle of Colenso and afterwards commanded Thorneycroft's Mounted Infantry in Transvaal, Orange River Colony and Cape Colony and was four times Mentioned in Despatches
