William Fisher b. Tettenhall, Wolverhampton 1873, evl. 2nd (Vol.) Battn, N. Staffs 1891, served in the Dogala Expedition, 1898, qualified as Pioneer Sergeant and transferring to the E. Surrey R. 1899. Landed with his Battalion in France 13/8/1914, and according to the War Diary was posted missing between 24th to 29th August along with 3 officers and 110 ranks who had been cut off from the Division on the 26th. Awarded the DCM his ribbon was awarded by the Brigade Commander on the 10 February 1915 having been announced in the Gazette on the 1st. Commd. into the RFC in Feb. 1917.
