Fletcher, RAF, who as a 19 year old NCO when flying with Captain ’Siffy’ Thompson, 22 (Bristol) Squadron in four months May-September 1918 became the highest British Two-Seater combined Pilot / Observer ‘Aces’ of the War, and Fletcher, the highest scoring NCO of the War . The combination all the more remarkable being that all but one of these victories were against single seat German scouts and some two thirds witnessed as confirmed as destroyed

(Col in WW2),Whilst on reconnaissance attacked by two enemy scouts both of which the recipient and his observer shot down during which he was three times wounded passing out on landing. Awarded an Order of Leopold with fine citation by the hands of the King of the Belgians in the hospital at la Penne
