Frederick Ronald Burgess, served aboard ‘Rinovia’ a 429 ton Grimsby trawlet. Requisitioned by the Navy in 1939 and employed sweeping the Western Channel. On 19 July, 1940 she was the target of an air attack shooting down one of the attackers
Burgess received the sole award of the DSM for this action.
On 2 November, 1940 Rinovia was sunk by a mine off Falmouth Bay, some 3 miles off Anthony Light with the loss of 14 crew killed.
