From Elgin, Morayshire. B. 1786, indentured 1803 as apprentice shoemaker to one Alexander Brander of Elgin. Clearly disenchanted with boots he enlisted in the 92nd on 28 March, 1807a shoemaker by trade. Musters record ‘6th Coy. March through Spain , Sep – Dec, 1808, Mar – Dec 1808 records him ‘sick regimental hospital. Landing in Portugal with his regiment in late 1810 he is later shown in the musters for July-Sep. ‘wounded Vittoria’ and from Sep 1813 to Mar 1814 as wounded Bilbao later Renterio. Almost certainly sustained at the Maya Pass, 25 July, 1813, where the regiment lost 17 officers and 302 men killed or wounded plus 22 pow. ‘Gunshot wounds to the left hand and cheek at Quatres Bras 16 June, 1815’ The Musters show wounded at Brussels until 9 Aug. and then to England where he entered the Royal Hospital Chelsea, 3rd May, 1816.
No trace of his death may be found but does not appear on the MGS roll.

twice wounded at Quatres Bras, gunshot wounds to the face and left hand and discharged in consequence
