William Smith, Ensign in the 91st Foot, June 1810, Lieutenant July 1813. He served in the Peninsula 1812 -1814, and was present at the battles of the Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive and Toulouse, and also at the battle of Waterloo. H.P. April 1817, and died either in 1823 (Challis) or at Dumfries in 1840 (Regimental History).
Waterloo Medal, 1st Dragoon Guards, a particularly good Union Brigade Charge casualty, four times wounded. The nature of his wounds indicate present throughout the charge until the final engagement with French Lancers suffering two head wounds and two severe lance wounds
