Hull, 2nd Bn. 43d Ft.), later killed in action at the head of his regiment at the Bridge of Coa 24 July. 1810. A brilliant rearguard action allowing Crauford to withdraw his Division from it’s ill chosen position and annihilation. Lord Wellington wrote of this action near Almeida that it was one of the most brilliant of the exploits of the Light Division during the war and commended Hull. Colonel Hull had previously been taken prisoner of war at the fall of Guadaloupe and with a few other officers of the regiment had later escaped and seizing a small boat successfully effected this escape.
