At least 87 Ops, over Europe, he flew 30 of them with the famous “Dam Busters”; and became a “Tallboy” specialist. Scored a direct hit, with the “Earthquake” Bomb, on the entrance of the Saumur Tunnel on 8 June 1944; having obliterated Leonard Cheshire’s marking Flare causing Cheshire to remark “…hold on chaps, I’ll have to mark it again.” FlewVampire Jets over the Malayan Jungle completing nearly 50 ‘strikes’ and returned to Bomber Command to take part in Operations during the Suez Crisis in November 1956.
